Attention: Third Ward Projects!

Lucky Number Census

Between May 1st and May 15th individuals of the Third Ward will be approached to fill out census slips that ask them to fill pit their First Name, Last Name, Lucky Number, and optional contact information. The goal is to collect data that ultimately will function in a multitude of forms. Upon completion a random drawing of “the luckiest number” will be performed, and the data will be organized to find the most common and least common lucky numbers in the Third Ward. Quantitative artwork will be created to visually express the findings.

Between May 5, 2010 and May 15th plein aire mathematics will be preformed on chosen blocks within the Third Ward. Probability equations will choose one car, bike or motorcycle on each block to be rewarded a green envelope. Each envelope will contain a $1.00 bill and a long hand equation that proves you are a winner.

Milwaukee Luck Experiments: Objectives

1. To examine and apply mathematic laws of probability, chance, and gift giving within the confines of city blocks.

2.To increase awareness of individuality by providing rewards to randomly selected people at unexpected times.

3.To create "quantitative artworks" that respond to the data collected in such experiments.

4.To maintain a public blog that documents, advertises, and explains projects. This blog will be maintained biweekly noting of progress and observances in field work. Lastly the blog will also serve as an open communication platform between myself and the public.
